heya guys

i got some big slate tiles today and was wandering first is it safe to use.

secondly ive cleaned it with this method

1. a real good scrub in really hot water and fairy liquid
2. boild it in water on the stove for about 30 mins
3. covered it in reptile safe disinfectant
4. and finally gave it a real good rinse

do you think that is enough to clean it
if so any ideas on how to deal with the sharp edges

cheers mat

only the one corn ....... for now ;-)

It may be worth soaking it in sterilising soloution too. If its thin, can you chip off the sharp edges? If not then sandpaper?

i like slate! wash in hot soapy water then rinse and put in Milton/sterilising solution or 10%bleach solution for at least an hour, preferably overnight. i found taking off sharp edges to be a complete waste of time - you just keep chipping the slate until there's nothing left!
