I read today that corn snakes hate alcohol and if you have been drinking not to handle them if you have had a drink?
as they can sense the alcohol through your skin and even the next day?
Has anyone heard of this? not that I condone handling snakes when drunk but i often have a beer in the evening! |

LOL paul.
But to answer the question:
I believe that's a load of crap. I myself am partial to the odd tipple or six. Although i have been bitten by my snakes, i've handled them the morning after, i've handled them after having a drink, (I have to add that I've not done it while totally sloshed, only after one or two). I believe anyone that handles any animal after having TOO MUCH to drink deserve anything they get. My Floridas used to like Worthingtons Creamflow though, I found that out when i had a dish down still from when my snails had some beer, and the snake found it. |

I go to an old boys house every night, he's 82, I met him about 4 years ago when i started doing the gardening for him and his wife. When she died 2 years ago he became very lonely so I started going round most evenings. Now I go round every nearly evening, and I tend to have one or two brandys or whiskies with him, it's just keeping him company, he likes to have a drink, so i have a couple with him. I have come back from his after having 2 drinks (I never have any more than that with him), and handled my snakes and they've been fine. However all snakes are different, mine all spent the first 5 years of their lives living in a house with 3 young girls,(7,10,13) who LOVED getting them out, so mine have actually probably spent more time out of the viv in the first few years, than in!! |

I think its complete S**t, thers no possible way that the snake can "sense" when you have alcohol in your blood! Nice try who ever came up with it though, lol |

I dont think that snakes can sense alcohol but animals have better tuned senses then us, so ya never know. Whats your veiw on the thought that dogs and other animals can sense tsunami's? |

I have heard that they dont like it. If they bite you and dont let go then apply some alchol around the area where the snake is biting. That is what i heard |

It could just be the smell that some dont like. My snake Inca hates the smell of cigaretts she wouldn't go near my aunt untill she quit. So it could just be specific to individuals. |

AH ha, so that's how to get free whisky, If i walk into a pub, and bite the person behind the bar, they'll dab whisky around my nose/mouth. See you later guys, i'm going to the pub with an empty wallet........ |
