Are the exo-terra's harder to regulate the temp in due to the mesh top? Wouldnt the heat just rise out? Sorry if thats a dumb question |

not really. the air temp doesnt matter for corns, but temp on the substrate warm and cold side does. if concerned about ambient air temp, then place a towel over half th mesh. this will halve the amount of heat lost. ive exos largest tank and can honestly say its amazing.
what size is your tank? |

When using a heat mat, the air isnt heated. Only the surfaces it touches get any heat, so only a tiny fraction of heat will be lost. |

My tank is 36" by 18" by 18". As above posts say, its only the substrate that needs heating. The tank itself is the same as the ambient temperature outside the tank. |

It looks like you stole the variegated grass one from my house? I just had to check I still had it! |

Nah, I got mine from a place in Enfield but it's exactly the same. See !!!
My plants are stuck into a hole in the middle of a piece of scrap wood. Alice hasn't tipped any over yet and she's a heavy ol' girl. The skinnier plants are grouped in clumps pushed into little holes in scrap wood.

I need something better than blue tack. My Tynan pulls them over when he climbs on them. Btw, i like the reddish plant in front off it (better keep your windows locked tonight) |

Got up this morning and Tynan was on top of the background wedged between the background and the lid and hes been there all day. He either likes it up there or he cant get down.

Not sure if you read my topic, where he got behind the background through the gap's where the wires come up through into the wire holes.
little sod. [:!(]
Filling holes with kitchen roll and blu-tack (wonderous stuff) seems to have worked, but dreading next clean out in case I miss a bit!! |

I filled the holes at the bottom with cardboard. He`s been in there two weeks now and he hasn`t got behind so far. |

Aye mine did that, but since I converted a fish tank, there was gaps etc. So I had to block it off :( |
