Thats not normal, and probably worth a vet visit. Has he bred before? What size and weight is he and what size an weight is the female? |

yes definitely take him to an exotic/reptile specialist vet. due to the length of time the hemipene has been prolapsed, amputation may be the best option the vet can suggest, so definitely ASAP! |

hi,
thanks guys for ya messages,
wasnt planning on breeding 2 be honest, dont think many people at the mo would be interested in buying snakes in this climate, and thats even if they hatched!!!!! and shes never layed before.
feeling really really guitly at the mo cos i cant take my poor snake 2 the vet until fri, because im working 0800-1800 ever day and revising for my job, and if i fail my exams thats my job gone, so looks like the snake might have 2 wait until friday!!!! just hope hes going 2 be okay.
and its def his man bits i looked on the net for the male snake body, got a feeling potter my male snake will have 2 get the chop, and its already gone dry and shriveled anyay!
trust it 2 be me that bloody gets this problem! never ever had problems with any of my weird creatures! lol

sorry to say but friday will be to late and there is a very high risk of this turning into something worse through infection ect,is'nt there any one who could take them to the vets for you. |

totally agree with lee. if you have any pets you have a responsibility to look after them, including getting prompt veterinary care if required!! |

hi,
for those of ya interested, took snake to the vets, the vet says he sees this quite alot!!! male snakes have 2 male bits, and what normal happens in the wild is they fall off after a week or so.
so i havnt been crawl, had a feeling that would happen. the vet said he can operate but thinks it would be easier and safer for the snake 2 leave nature 2 take its course, he did give him an ingection tho.
IF THIS HAPPENS 2 ANYONE ELSE SNAKE PUT SUGAR ON IT, LET ALL THE LIQUID OFF IT AND THEN RELEAVE WITH ICE, USING A COTTON BUD AND LUBE PUT BAC IN!!!!! THATS WHAT THE VET TOLD ME! LOL. NO WORD OF A LIE

so basically you left the poor little thing so long it got to the point that the vet didn't know if it would be worth operating? how would you feel if it was your bits being dragged along the floor until they dropped off?? |

Ooh er. I know for a FACT I wouldn't like mine being dragged around on the floor, I go on some rough paths to school.. youch.
Glad he's okay. |

thats in the wild where they have no option but to leave them hanging out, they might drop off but dont grow back.As for the advice the vet gave you,the sugar trick can help until you get to a vet but would not recommend that anyone try to push them back in them self unless you totaly know what your doing,i still say if this hapens to anyone...VETS ASAP |
