Hello.

I've been using a thermostat with a heat mat to heat my viv. Currently I'm keeping the sensor probe for the thermostat inside my snakes cave, but I've been wondering about the rest of the viv.

Is this the best place for the probe? I'm worried that the rest of the vivarium might not be warm enough and that there's really only the cave being kept at the right temp.

Any ideas?

Sounds fine to me. The cool side should be about 20-23*C and the warm end 27-30*C.

I agree with Matty. As long as one hide is warm and the other is in the cool side then this is fine for a corn. He'll always find the warm bit if he needs it.

So my main concern should be making sure the hide is warm enough, and the other areas will take care of themselves?

Also, I'm measuring the temp. with an exo-terra probe thermometer (placed next to the thermostat probe). Should I rely on one of them more, are they likely both as accurate/sensitive?

Never rely on the dial on the thermostat, it will be wrong. Always take the temperature reading from the thermometer.
