How often should I hold my corns? I used to do it 3 times a week but in the lst 4 months I have been so busy that I often don't pick them up for weeks. Whats too little and whats too much?
How intelligent are corns? I thought snakes were quite thick but anytime I put the snakes in a smaller vivarium to separate them during feeding they try and push the lid to their viv open or find week spots in the viv and push hard against it which must show some sign of intelligence
Finally, does breeding in cerain ways produce different personalities? My snow corn is very timid, and takes ages to find his food (if he eats it at all). My view is that because of his colouration he would never survive in the wild, so do you think breeding certain colours can mean a snake can lose other genetic traits such as aggression, poorer scent etc... |

You should to handle corns as often as you can, but they don't really need it all the time. In fact, most of them would prefer you to leave them alone, but it's not good for them.
Handling is good to both exercise your snake and build a bond between you. I would say once a week is bare minium, but more often if you possibly can.
Corns are intelligent, especially where escaping is concerned. You'd be surprised what they have the brains to do.
I don't think you can really breed corns for personality, but you never know. I'm only guessing from the experience of when we went to buy Casper. At first I had picked this gorgeous female ghost, who was strikingly beautiful, but when I went to shop owner he said she was aggressive and flighty (she had bit one of the shop assistants only the day before). We got her out to handle her anyway and she was a nasty pasty and poo'd on Lewy . The shop owner then offered us that snakes brother from the same clutch. This snake was lovely, calm and adventurous. And that was our Casper! They had the same parents, but were totally different snakes personality wise.
Think this could be a good nature vs nurture debate What does everyone else think? |

it depends on what stage the moon was in its cycle when the snake was hatched, normally snakes born on a full moon seem the most passive and snakes hatched when its a crescent moon can be very nippy |

They were different markings too. I would say Casper isn't as gorgeous as she was, but personality goes a very, very long way.

Is that right Saddleninja? or is that just a werewolves view of hatching? |

i think its good to bond with your corn, and as mentioned above they dont like being handled lots but its good for em. i didnt handle Max for a long time after we got him cos he had an attitude but i just decided to put my foot down n get him out lots and now he'd the best one to handle! Im sure they could go 2 weeks before they get attitude? lol |
