And so the questions begin....!

Ok, so I am not about to start faffing with.... (he needs a name ) today as I only got him yesterday and I want him to settle in.

But, I did check on him this morning, looked in his tank to see where he is.

And he's a lively one! Admittedly he had been snuggled on his warm side, so was all... warm and ready to go. But obviously being a baby and not really handled he's going to be a little nervous. Half the reason I picked him was because he was more than happy to come and see what was going on.... maybe I should learn to pick the docile animals LOL

I am unsure about how to get him used to me. Do you just go in there and pick him up??? Should I just let him get used to my hand in his viv 1st, then slowly introduce picking him up??

I'm also paranoid about losing him! He's quick. And small... and I don't want to pick him up and him panic and escape......

Any advice would be appreciated.

Leave him for a week to settle in, just change the water daily, this will help get him used to your scent and learn that you're not a threat or wanting to eat him!
after a week settling in try offereing a feed and if he takes it allow a further 48 hours for him to digest his meal then let handling commence!!
keep handling sessions short initially, 5-10 mins is enough and handle him over his faunarium so if he is particularly wriggly and the worst happens and you drop him, he'll only fall a short distance and into familiar surroundings.

Thanks! I'm going to be sat on my hands this week I think in order to let him settle in!!!!

I thought about putting something in his tank that smells of me, so he becomes familiar - is that a good idea, or just daft?

yeah i like the sig and putting something in with your smell on it (ie. not something freshly laundered) certainly wouldn't hurt

Haha... I was going to say I'm not putting any socks or dirty undies in there, but thought better of it. I know better now!

You see, you should've said it, we all assumed that's what you were gonna do but had to let you know not to.

Gloves/t-shirt or something similar should do it.
But nothing that's had hard work whilst wearing.
Just stick an old shirt on, wear it while you do nothing for half the day, then drop that in.

Remember to put another one on afterwards, you don't wanna scare the pizza delivery guy.

Yeah he'd suffocate if I put a top in there!

What I have actually done, is just rubbed something in my hands and dropped that in there. I think that'll be enough 'me smell'!!!

My dog can pick out a single stone from a load of gravel if I have rubbed it in my hands, so it must smells pretty strongly!! To a wee beast anyway :P

No nakedness needed.
