Thanks for the welcome. Lestat is doing great, he is settling in and had his first pinky(from forceps) and I am now handling him daily with no problems. |

Hey, I didn't say I hated spiders either. I happen to think they're fascinating creatures. It's just I cant physically bring myself to hold one. Makes me shudder thinking about it!!

LOL Spiders are ok but to be honest they dont do to much, they eat about 4 crickets a week, and can sudenley grab there prey and hold it on there while injecting the venom, they then place it on the ground and do a kinda little dance laying silk over it, they then pick it up for there feast. The only other time there fasinating is when they shed which isnt to often. its also weird that they shed there fangs and eye lens covers. My biggest tarantula is curly who is about 6" across at full spread, I dont handle them either as a small fall can be fatal. Maybe im a bit chicken as well lol. |

Hi Anglo
We started with a spider and I have to admit caring for him seems much easier than the snake! The crickets are actually higher maintainance!! We've tried handling but all too frightened, mostly because he moves so quickly and unexpectedly that we worry about dropping him and causing damage. So he's a nice 'decorative' pet! He's managed to survive a full year so we're obviously doing something right ;). As I put it to my son "Fortunately for you, he thrives on neglect"... |
