Well done for giving him a nice feed. The first feed when new to snakes is always the most amazing, as it's different than what ANYONE expects. Great isn't it??? Well done for getting good pics without worrying the snake as well, just wait until they get onto larger mice, i'm amazed at HOW mine eat them sometimes.
Did you 'drop' feed him? or did you wiggle it a bit to make him strike?
Thanks Kehhlyr.......we just wiggled it in front of him. He didn't strike though, just took it very gently into his mouth. He didn't seem at all bothered about me with the camera. The whole thing was over in just a couple of minutes.....can't wait for his next feed now. He didn't have too much of a lump either so wondering whether to up him to 2 time?
If you actaully look real close, although it might be easier with larger snakes, their skull splits into about 5 bits and they sort of 'walk' the food into the mouth until the muscles in the neck take over. I still find it brilliant to watch, and yet i've seen it thousands of times. It's when they take it sideways or backwards that can be really interesting, it looks real odd when you can see what looks like a mouse wearing a massive snake neck jumper!!
