Hi, im new to the site, its very nice site!
Im having trouble with my corn. He is 18 months old and is in a 36''x15''x18'' viv. Normally he eats once every week on one small mouse. Last week he missed his feed and has now gone 16 days with out eating which is very out of character. I wondered if the heat mat in there wasnt good enough so changed it for a ceramic bulb with gaurd on a habistat pulse thermostat and temps seem to be good. I have tried feeding a 3 times now and all 3 times he has shown no interest. What i have done now is covered up the glass for a few days as i thought he may be stressed for some reason.
Im going to try braining the mouse 2 night and see if he takes it. If he doesnt has anyone got any other sugestions?
Many thanks,
John
p.s i did try and search the site before posting yet another feeding post but couldnt find the answers i was looking for. :-) |

Hi John,
it is happening to my snake too now. Apparently they are going through a sexual maturity... they are becoming men! they lose interest in food and become much more active then usual. Sometimes it last for the whole month or more. So do not worry, just keep changing the water more often.... you can try to offer some food every 2 or 2.5 weeks... eventually he will go back to normal and its appetite will incrise.
Spring awakens their libido too! LOL

Thank you all for your comments, i did think it may have been down to his age. He is like a snake posessed at the mo, always up againest the glass and trying to get out! He does look really healthy tho, the healthiest iv ever seen him so not worried he's not eaten. Its been 3 weeks 2 day so il leave him another week and try again then.
Thanks again guys and gals!

Hi's been out and about ever since, looks like he could eat again, think il leave it 5 days and then feed him again, then il go back to weekly feeds. He was going crazy, always out and up against the glass, he's now shed, eaten and calmed which is good! |
