I have the reptile bark, a black cave, a bendable vine which Strike loves to wrap himself around and climb, temperature gauge to moniter the temp, a water dish, and a co****-textured rock thing with holes and 2 levels (if that makes sense). Is there anything else that is essential for a healthy snake? Thanks in advance! |

Um, Food?
Seriously though, it sounds as if you've got a good set-up, although i'm assuming there is a viv for all that to go in!!
Just a fair bit of fun and play with you and him and he'll be well chuffed.
I personally have odd stuff in my Viv, I have the base of a hamster cage with the tunnels still attached and on top of that is a plastic tray with a semi-circle tub and a couple of plastic plants and wood bark. They seem to enjoy the tunnel, and the 'cave' on top. I have the lid off an ice cream tub as well, can't even remember the reason it went in there, but they hide under it and seem to like it. I also at this moment have the cover off my light fitting in there, Kelloggs decided he'd be able to get into it, and pulled it down and is now curled up in it. I've got an old lunch box with a hole cut in it in one of them as well, Sid is starting to nest in that one. I regularly move things around a bit, and add odds and sods. Last week they had the lid from a cd spindle to play with, Kelloggs enjoyed trying to curl up in that as well, although he was never successful. |

Thanks! It's good to know that I'm on the right track. I do have food, but I'm having issues with it...rather, Strike is. But that'll go in another forum. Adam and I take him out and let him play 1-2 times a day. So he does get out and about, although we dont' let him on the floor because we're still in the process of unpacking and he'd blend into the floor and we'd never find him again. |

Mine also did this in his exoterra viv so i blocked the gaps at the back with paper and it seemed to do the trick. Also, I used to have a lamp in my lounge next to the viv, and I noticed that my corn would spend ages just sat on a branch on the side nearest to the lamp. Does anyone think he might like having a light in his viv, that I could just put on for a couple of hours each day? I was thinking of looking for a light (not a heat lamp) just for display reasons maybe? Any opinions on this? |

Me too, 9 watt low energy bulbs, as they generate little heat, usually just for an hour or two in the evening. They also help looking for poo in viv corners!
I prefer red bulbs but have not seen any low energy coloured bulbs on the market apart from LED bulbs, and only seen these on the web.

You can use silicone to seal it around the edge then squigle it allover the middle and no more problems. |
