Filton Aquaria - I went to this shop earlier today to get some kit for the viv im making. Its a small shop but the guy that owns it is totaly on the level and not the traditional salesmen that will try to sell you things. I told him the measurements of the viv and he sorted me out the correct size heat mat, the round thermomter thingy that everyone seems to use and some proper animal/reptile disinfectant. The shop is in bristol(SW). (The shop doesnt have a website but the number is 0117 942 5586). I wanted to recomend this because its the only good reptile shop i have found in my area.

Anyone else got any recommendations?

I can't fault Stockport Pet Warehouse in Manchester. They're always really helpfull and full of good advice. Never bought anything from there (YET)....but people I know have done and they only have good things to say about them. Well worth a visit (although I think anyone in the area already knows about it).

Another one in Manchester...Viper 'n' Vine in Prestwich. Went in there today asking loads of random reptile questions and they really know their stuff! Not the cheapest of places but they won't sell it to you if you don't genuinely need it. All the livestock looks good and healthy too.

There's one up the road from me called: 'Tropical Fish World', and oddly enough they seem to specialise in reptiles and amphibians.
They do have a fishy section though, but not as large as you'd imagine from the name of the shop.

http://shop.tropicalfishworld.net/index.asp

they're not the cheapest about, in fact some of the prices are high, but they're brilliant.
The guys in there REALLY do know their stuff as well, and not only do they help you out with odds and sods, but they don't go for the hard sell either.
They also are careful on what animals go to who, one of the guys in there refuses to sell any snakes to anyone until they answer a few questions, and even then he still sometimes refuses.
I was in there talking to him last week and falling in love with a Blue Anaconda as well, and i chuckled to myself, when after talking to a customer that wanted a Ball Python he wasn't happy that the bloke was able to keep one properly, and promptly told the customer, 'Look, you don't really have much of a clue as to what you're doing, don't waste any more of my time asking about a snake if you're to bloody clueless to have one, do some research and get yourself educated about animal husbandry before you get a snake'.
Now I admire that, someone that chose to lose a 150-200 quid sale, just because the customer wasn't happy about feeding defrosted rats to a snake.
