Picked up 6 yr old corn yesterday, very exciting :) he came with his "set up" which turned out to be an old 4ft fish tank . i did have second thoughts about getting him for a split second because of his set up, but once i held him there was no way i was leaving with out him lol. Got him and the tank home and got his tank ready for him and it seems he has been living in a tank with a badly cracked bottom,( my husband has managed to find some wood to lay on the bottom so he wont cut himself for the time being untill i can get a new setup sorted) the rest of the set up consisted of some news paper and a bit of bark and a heatmat, o and a 10lb weight to hold the badly fitting lid down and there is hardley any ventilation in the tank, there is also a light that has been drilled into the lid with no cage round it and because of the lack of venteilation the wood is badly scorched. they where such nice people i got him from and makes me sad to think he had been living in a cracked tank for i dont know how long. Any way rant over ... i feel better now lol |

To aid ventilation in a fish tank, cut/drill a nice big hole (3inches diameter) in both ends of the lid and cover the INSIDE with a fine mesh. On top of ONE of the holes put a computer fan connected to a 9v battery, or a battery pack so it draws air out.
Voila, instant fairly quiet ventilation. |

the ignorance of people never ceases to amaze and confuse me... no matter how nice they are, keeping an animal in anything other than its appropriate conditions is terrible... glad to hear he has gone to a less ignorant home now.. |

He has been called noodles, not sure if im gonna change his name, i think ill see what kind of personality he has :) I do have a young corn and he shed just before i got him so i am still waiting for him to shed again. this new one is looking like he will soon and he sounds crackly ( his skin) when he slides over me, im assuming this is normal. |
