How long have you had it set up? The temps should stablise with time.
My corn is always on the cool side. |

I get a 2-3*C variation in temps before the stat kicks in, so there isnt much more you can do about it then. |

If temperatures are dropping too low and taking a while to go back up then it is normally due to an underpowered heater.

Yes, if you're worried (and I'm guessing you're using a heat mat), then you could change to a PP, but it another expense. |

I had the same thing, I'd have temps of 86f most of the time but then it would slowly swing from 90f to 77f, as the stat turned off then took a while to turn back on.
I got a pulse stat which now keeps my temps within a couple of degrees variance at most.
I don't think a bit of temp variance will harm your snake though, remember in it's natural habitat every day isn't the same temperature and the temp doesn't stay completely stable - even a small cloud would cause a temporary drop in temp
Just make sure the temps don't go TOO high - that's far worse for your snake than it been slightly cool for a short while... |

If your snake is *always* on the cool side of the viv, or in the tree, that could indicate your temps are too high and he is moving as far as possible from the heat - probably best to double check temps just in case...
It might be worth dropping a degree and seeing if he's happier about using all his viv? |

My Corns vivs warm ends vary between 26-29 C. I use an on-off stat. This variation is perfectly OK and as long as there is a gradient between warm and cool ends, I would not worry.
My Royal has an IR bulb on a dimmer stat and his warm end is a constant 31C. On-off stats will always vary the temps by a few degrees. |

My on off stats are like this, really annoying at times, I'm changing to pulses soon. On offs are obviously cheaper for a reason lol. |

i bought another coconut hide the other day and put that in the warm end as she was using that one in the cool end now she splits her time more evenly. is a glass viv harder to keep a stable heat than a wooden? and in answer to a question further up yes tis a heat mat. or are there tricks to keeping the heat in. |

I only have 1 glass viv and it's a right pain with temps, there are things you can do to insulate it abit, polystyrene tiles, tinfoil or the really hight tech - chuck a blanket over it like i do works pretty well. |
