hi everyone i was wondering if someone might be able to help me. i am worried about the new rat snake. he is acting very strange. he hides all the time and when hes out hes very grumpy. i know the last owner didnt handle him much but wondered if there is something else i can do to help him? he seems unhappy...

you just need to give him time to get used to his new surroundings and then to build his tameness handle him confindantly for a couple of minutes a day (except for 48hrs after he has eaten) and he should tame up in no time....

Well i dont know about Rat Snakes but Corns lead quite a boring life to Human Standards spending alot of time hiding away and only coming out for abit at ngiht.. tho its quite ok.. Just when you go to handle him be confident about it.. dont pull your hand back when he turns around to you then go to handle him again etc coz then your implying fear.. just go in, scoop him up and over time :) He will know that you mean no harm :)

Rat snakes are the same as corns really- in fact in America corns are sometimes refered to as the red rat snake.

Same family I think- rats are just bigger and have different shaped heads.
