Here are a few snaps of my new California King Snake who arrived today. He is 18 months old. He is called Frisco (as in San Francisco!).

Well.... there are about 2500 species of snake.
They can be divided into 3 families: Henophidia (boas, pythons and other primitive snakes) Typhpoidea (tiny blind snakes and threadsnakes) Xenophidia (all others)
These 3 superfamilies are subdivided into 19 smaller families. The largest of these is the Colubridae, which includes Corns and Kings. This includes half of all snake species. Colubrids are known for their broad belly scales, cylindrical pointed tails and oval shaped heads. Most colubrids are constrictors and harmless but a few produce venom.
Corns belong to the rat snake group and they are also referred to as Red Rat Snakes.
That all sounds very technical, sorry, I was reading it from a book! |

Yes, Corns and Kings are very similar basic care wise from what I have read. In fact I can't tell any difference from all the care sheets I have read. |
