heres a photo of blake, a recent photo, you see? his getting big now. http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa176/Heatseeker872591/DSC00443.jpg
when i first bought the heat bulb guard, it never worked anyway, blake was so tiny he used to be able to fit through the little square holes on the guard, so back then i had my uncle build me an inner section to go inside that guard hahahhaa |

Nice picture. I can't wait for mine to get to that size Why do you use a bulb instead of a mat? What are the pros and cons?

Nice viv Heatseeker and very nice snake. If it was me I would take out the tape though, it looks like cable tape, which isnt very sticky, but its better to be safe than sorry. |

brads, u asked me why do i use a bulb instead of a heat mat? the answer is i use a heat bulb in the daytime and after 5pm i switch over to the heat mat which is underneath his log. it saves wear and tear on each individual heat source really. and matty, that blue tape is used to stick the probes from the thermostat and the didgital thermometer down to where it is meant to be, ie on top of the log during daytime and underneath the log at night time. if i didnt stick it down , the snake would just knock it off when he slithers over or around it. it is not dangerous tape i been doing this for 2 years + now. |

no, well i use a normal temperature one and it still works good, except the bulb constantly flashes on and off with the thermostat lol byt saying that, my heat bulb hasnt blown for nearly a year now. before i started using a thermostat my bulb used to blow like every 2 months and it was always on the first thing in the morning when i plugged it in and BANG lol |

yeah thats why i thought they were ment to have dimmin stats as they bulbs dont flash on an off an they maintain a better temperature |

true, i never have the bulb on at night time tho, or when im off out and no one in the house coz of the risk of fire etc lol im a bit paranoid about bulbs. the only good thing about them tho is that they warm the air in the enclosure where as the heat mat when on is the only thing that warms up. i think my snake benfits most tho from the mat |
