hey guys and girls,
i need a bit of help. OK Merlin is my 1st Snake the day i brought him home the lady i bought him off said he was due a feed but may not eat due to "the move" but offer him any way, so i di and he ate, since i got him on monday he has only done 1 poo is this normal??
also in his vivarium i often find him on the cold side all coiled up,The hot side is around 82 and the cold 74.5
does anyone have any idea's about it or am i just being paranoid

i have only had my first snake for about three weeks now she doesnt poo very often so id wud say its normal and my one is allways curled up at the cold end doesnt move from her fav hide, ive even tryed movig it the warmer end she still wudnt go up there, but she still eats fine and loves to be handled so i would say his fine but wait for others to coment too cus i may not be ryt :s my lil nessie seems fine tho :) |

yeah don't worry about the lack of poo just yet
is the hide at the warm end as appealing/secluded as the hide at the cool end? different hides, direct sunlight from a window or just light shining in from a light/lamp in the same room might make him prefer one end (as well as him thermoregulating) |

Snakes are not like humans, they poo every now and then but no regularity really and they can hold it for seemingly ages. If you are ever worried about a lack of poo then a warm bath normally does the trick (if you don't mind your snake pooing in your bath). |

if he's preferring the cool side even without a hide then i'd make sure the warm end isn't too warm for him (aim for 28-30*C) alternatively if it's possible you could always change the heatmat to the other side of the viv so you're heating the side he prefers |
