Hi Folks,
One of my 2 corns is a hatchling and is about I 8 inches in lenght I guess, body maybe as thick as a pencil. I only got it over a week ago and have given it 3 pinkies so far. What is worrying me is that she appears to be reguritating the pinkie each time maybe a day or so after feeding. What caught my attention was the smell in her faunarium. She has a hide on the warm end, water dish, Aspen bedding. Should I perhaps try her on a fuzzy?
At a bit of a loss on this one, any tips appreciated
Many thanks in advance |

Stop trying to feed her for at least 10 days. What are the temps in the faun? |

I just have a small heat mat under one end Matty and no stat connected to it so I cant be sure of the exact temp in the hide. May that well be my problem, ie, too warm? If so what is the ideal temp for the hide and I will get a stat in there?
Cheers for the reply |

What are the hot and cold temperatures?
Yes you need a stat aswell as a thermometer.
How soon do you handle after feeding?
The snake needs to be left alone for 10 days preferably after a regurge. |

I dont have a thermometer in there at all lads. The Faun is kept in my Tarantula room which maintains a constant of 24 celcius day long with a drop to 22 at night so the cold end of the Faun cant be too cold for her surely? The heat mat under her hot endf is plugged in 24/7 so I really dont know what that temp is reading. I also made a point of not handling her post feeding at all.
So should I try a pinkie again in a week or so?
Cheers and thanks again for the advice |

Actually, if your room is 24C constantly I would rather turn an uncontrolled mat off altogether until you get the stat. |

i did a test on a secondhand heatmat i bought off ebay, just to check it was working ok, with no stat controlling it it got up to 40*C! that would cook a snake! another alternative to a stat is using a lamp dimmer switch manually set with a thermometer (which takes a while!), then the mat is only ever running at 1/4 or 1/2 it's potential (or whatever you've set it at)
the snake needs leaving at least a week if not 10 days before trying another feed to allow the gut flora to get back in balance to be able to digest food again |
