This is my first post on the forum so hello everybody I was feeling adventurous and decided to combine my first post with photos of my corn snake too...oh dear! Hope i do this right!
My name is Scarlet and i am 19 years old, and James is my first pet snake although i have been wanting a corn snake for years!
We bought James on the 20/12/08, he was my Christmas pressie We've had a few problems...he was supposedly born in July 08, but compared to even newly hatched corns we have seen in other reptile shops he is tiny!! We spoke to a reptile owner about it yesterday (whilst we were browsing his shop) and he suggested maybe James had not being eating properly at the petshop we bought him from, or regurged most meals...
We have fed him twice successfully now, and tonight we hope to try and feed him two pinkies instead of his usual one, as one pinky no longer leaves a bulge!
Anyway, sorry for the long story, here are the pics
He has definitely gained weight since we have had him, as when we first brought him home his neck was so thin it looked as though it would snap when he moved!
His body seems to have filled out a bit too
He is a lovely snake though, very friendly and once you are holding him he is fine being handled. Very cute little boy
This is the viv he is currently living in
Thanks for reading & looking, sorry for the long post and all the pics |

Nice snake- glad he's feeding well
Your viv looks good too- although I would cover 3 sides of it to make him feel more secure. They don't like feeling exposed.
oh and Welcome to the forum! |

lovely little snake, feed him what he is on every 5-6 days at that size, it shouldnt be a problem and will help him grow a little bit |

heya and welcome
his age could well be right, and for his size he doesn't even need to have been a problem feeder either. breeder/shop maintenance diets are often the bare minimum for survival rather than growth so if he's been in the shop for a while he probably hasn't grown much sionce he arrived there. I've bought tiny little 07's that weigh less than an 08 hatchling before, purely because they've been on a maintenance diet for so long. On the other hand my 07 ghost was a whopper when i bought him, I'm thinking about using him for breeding this year as he meets all the other criteria apart from his age. |
