Hi Nikki, welcome to the forum, feel free to ask away
I'm sure you have got the viv set up already so the only advice I'd give is to leave him alone for a week to settle in.
Got any pics? |

ok, i have a heat mat covers a third of the viv and a heat lamp that has a thermostat... should i turn the lamp off at night and just leave the pad going or vice-versa??? i was advised to set the thermostat to 28 degree's! It seems that everyone i talk to has different advice... a friend that all kinds of rep's hates heat mats... and another lady told me to use both but when reading bits and pieces i've just confussed myself i think!! lol
Thats cool 'gingerponey' both me and my ride although her's is only 12.2hh so not realy a horse lol ! |

TBH i'd lose the heat lamp, get the heatmat plugged into the thermostat and set it to 30* with the probe in the warm hide where the snake is. it's best to manually check the temps with a thermometer and set the stat according to the temp the thermometer says not the temp the stat dial is on (if that makes sense??) corns don't need lighting, i think most people on here mainly use heatmats, one thing to be aware of is that the newer Exo-Terra mats are for GLASS vivs ONLY - there have been occasional instances of them melting plastic vivs/tubs - so I'd definitely have the heatmat on a stat! |

Hello and welcome to the forum
As per Gingerpony and Blackecho, there's no need for a heat lamp. They're only good with animals that bask, i.e turtles, lizards etc.
What that means is that you have a basking lamp that needs put to good use, so you have an excuse to get a nice liz. |
