hi,

i am currently using roofing slate as substrate but am thinking of changing to some form of sand as the slate is a pain to keep clean(poo sticks to it)

what is every ones opinons on sand and impaction. it seems to be a relatively dodgy subject with lots of pros and cons?

also wot do you guys use?

One of my mates puts his stones and rocks in the dishwasher.
Swears by the cleanliness that brings. However, her bloke whinges at her for it, dunno why.

its just my 3 females are in one viv and each poo's once a day.
