As you know, me and the Lewymonster are going to try and breed Cyd and Cornelius next year, and someone has offered us a chicken egg incubator for £25.
Is it a worthy buy? Can they be adapted to be suitable for snake eggs or does it need to be more humid? |

Is there room to put some moist moss/vermiculite in for the humidity? |

Don't know yet, not seen it. But we'd have to devise some way of getting the moisture in there.

Got another description and it only holds 6-9 eggs anyway, so it won't be very good if Cyd drops a 15 egger anyway |

6-9 chicken eggs, you'd get close to 15 snake eggs in there. The problem you would have is that as a chicken incubator, a lot of them rotate the eggs automatically for you. Good for chicken eggs, not for snakes. Depends on the type though, obviously. Still, 25 quid for a chicken 'bator seems fairly reasonable. |

Im sure you could take it apart and remove the motor that turns them. |

I borrowed one when Birch laid earlier this year, I can't remember the make or model but you couldn't set the temperature low enough, or the humidity high enough or for it to be on for enough days. there's usually a tray you can sit on top of the rollers to stop the eggs turning though. |

I use a polystyrene box, like the ones from fish markets/packing boxes with a heat mat inside on the lid. I rest the egg boxes on wire racks with a water dish underneath for humidity, and in the bottom of the box, i have a small battery operated fridge fan, (You can find them on ebay) to circulate the heat to all areas and corners. |
