Mark, I put cardboard on top of the tank to keep it warm, i took it off just for the sake of the photos. But whats hardboard? Secondly, i dont understand too well what you were trying to explain about the heat mat. Can you clarify? Also, i dont feed her in that tank, i feed her in a plastic storage like tub that i bought from Staples.

Yes, that looks much better (from your snakes point of view). Where is your heatmat?

heatmat is under the tank although it doesnt appear to do any justice so i got a light above, also. That mat just doesnt get hot enough, and its a mat for a 10-20 gallon tank

If you're judging the temperature of the heatmat from the dial thermometer near the top of the tank then your heatmat may be fine.

The temperature should be measured where the snake will be, i.e. on the substrate and also the dial thermometers are very inaccurate. A digital one is much better and you can pick them up for a couple of pounds from ebay etc. Just get an aquarium one.

Emteas, thats great.
Is your mat on a stat?

The hardboard is prob a uk thing and your alternative will be 5mm plywood or mdf.
Put the mat inside the tank and put the larger surface area wood on top of the mat so the wood acts as a radiator and spreads the heat to a larger area, but make sure the snake cant get under the plywood.

Looks good.

I have a digital thermometer, i guess u missed it in all the other pics. The dial you are talking about is the one to check humidity.
