aspen tends to be more like shreds of wood, where as beech usually comes in chips, i must say i don't know much about hemp, but out of beech and aspen i don't think there is really much between them, we use beech chips with peanuts as it makes less dust when you change it, and it's reliatively easy to clean out. I think alot of people think it's easier to see mess in the aspen though and snakes find it easier to burrow into. I think it all comes down to personal preference. |

People like aspen because its very easy for the snake to burrow under it |

I recently changed from wood chip to aspen and snape has starting burrowing in it, just gives him something else to do and it is easier to spot the poo!! |

we've tried Peanuts on aspen, but he didin't show any interest in burrowing so we switched him back to beech as it's just easier for us, i suppose it depends on the snake. |

Beech for Birch and Spruce, shredded paper for all the other corns, when the paper supply runs out they'll all go back onto beech chippings again. |

i use the chips as the guy who gave me rosie lost one of her sisters due to it accidently swallowing some aspen i dunno if thats because the snake was little but im way to anxious to take that risk at the moment:S might change it when she is over 1 yr old

I would say that Aspen is less likely to cause damage if ingested than chips. |

I think that chips are harder to swallow but would do more damage, aspen is easier to swallow but would do less damage |

dunno i will get a pic. Because i might put it in tank today but if its bad for snakes then i dont want to. But i think if its o.k for mice and other crappy pets then it might be o.k Just want second opinion to be on safe side.

Snakes only have one functioning lung so any respitory problems are really serious , mice and the like have two lungs and can survive in sewers and other disgusting places , i wouldnt chance it until you find out what kind of wood it is |
