well my eggs didnt look healthy but i waited them out and woke up this morning to a stunning baby amel.

opened the othe eggs and found two dead snakies fully formed and looked like they should of hatched. can anyone shed any light why they didnt?

Congrats on your new baby amel Brookestar. Sorry about the other 2 who didnt make it, I guess that is what you have to prepare yourself for when you decide to breed. So often Nature intervenes in what we are doing and has 'her' way - some live, some die. But that doesnt make losing them any easier. xxx

one possibility is that the eggs were rotated or moved drowning the baby snake inside the egg........ or that the humidity wasn't high enough or stable meaning the egg itself was too tough for the snake to pip through. it's pretty c**p i know hun but the reason they lay so many eggs is that in the wild many wouldn't make it....... and i had a fully formed amel stripe in this years clutch that didn't hatch
