can a 2ft male corn mate with a females large enough to breed succesfully and safely? got asked by my mum today and i honestly didnt know the answer so i thought i would ask here |

lol, i had to feel sorry for the poor fella, he was trying his hardest non stop for 2 hours but she was having none of it! :D |

as an after thought, i tried the same 250g male (he's around 2') with a mahoosive 700+ g female and she was just too big for him to handle and just kept throwing him off. |

obviously when introducing them you need to make sure the size difference isn't too great or you'll end up with one fat female corn!! |

yeh its fine to breed a young male with an older female....i havent actually bred myself but all of this was explained to me by a corn snake breeder a few weeks back, hope this helps:) |

Yes, she needs to be able to carry and pass the eggs. |

so doesnt the 3yrs, by 3 ft be 300g count to males then when it comes to breeding.. or just the female cause the poor mare has to do all the hard work? |

yes they can - i succesfully used an 07 male of around 250g this year  |

I have been told that there is more success when the male is smaller as they are more interested in the task.

Young males have been known to mate with females from as young as 6 months. |

Actually, that is a very good question.
I've never thought about it, and to be honest I'm not 100% on the right answer either.
My guess is that a 2 year old male could mate with an older female, but the risks of damaging the male would probably be greatly higher, due to size and/or strength of an older female.
Again, I'm not completely sure, so if someone else has a better answer, feel free to inform me as well. |
