Bah, one of the eggs has popped :/ Really weird. It bubbled a couple of days ago, the shell sort of expanded in a bubble, but the veins were okay so I let it be. Peeked in just now to find it pooling clear goop down the side, not sure if it will live or not. We're on day 56 now so I guess we'll soon see. One of the others also has a bubble in the shell, but it seems a bit more solid. I hope it doesn't give out too :/

im dying here! BABIES GET OOT!
SilverWings Posted - 30/07/2013 : 21:32:52
Haha, so do I XD The popped baby is still very much alive even with only half a shell left, I'm not sure what colour he is, I saw a bit of his back which maybe looked caramel. Probably just a normal though. Loads of movement but he definitely doesn't want to come out yet. The others are massive. It's day 62 now, and the suspense is killing me o.O

I hope so ^_^ So excited, other half is on egg watch tomorrow with strict instructions on what to do if they make an appearance while I'm at work ^_^
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 27/07/2013 : 22:28:31
PIPS SOON! :D
SilverWings Posted - 27/07/2013 : 22:27:35
Peeked in at the popped eggy, saw the baby ^_^ It's been moving about. I wanted to take pics but he's hiding under his yolk now o.O I saw teeeeny scales, he looks black and white but this was through quite a bit of goop. On the downside, the other egg with the 'bubble' has given out, and now there's even more goop in the incubator. However, since there's a lot of movement in most of the eggs I don't think there's long to go so hopefully it too will make it.

powerade in the bath... odd, wonder how that was found out :L
mjpeters Posted - 27/07/2013 : 18:43:54
Well done luna-and you..sure she'll start eating soon
Moppet Posted - 27/07/2013 : 17:53:31
Aww bless her. At least she's done the hard bit now and can concentrate on getting her strength back again. Some snakes won't eat after laying until after they shed, maybe she's waiting to do that. A bath could also make her shed easier which is a plus
SilverWings Posted - 27/07/2013 : 15:38:18
Oo, good idea. She does sound crackly, I was thinking a bath anyway. I offered a pinky this morning, she refused, I'll try again tomorrow.
Moppet Posted - 27/07/2013 : 15:15:22
It might be worth giving her a bath with a little bit of blue powerade in it. I've read that that is a really good way to rehydrate them after they lay. Also, maybe try offering a really small food item, like a fluff or something. I gave Kali a fluff the day after she laid, just to get some energy into her
SilverWings Posted - 27/07/2013 : 13:12:44
She looks so skinny now :o her skin is all rumpled up around her neck, looks like its several sizes too big for her. She laid 16 eggs this time round, 7 good, 9 bad.
The first clutch can't have more than a few days left before it hatches, there's a lot of movement in some of the eggs, one in particular seems very feisty. I keep seeing flashes of movement when I candle it, like it's trying to strike ^_^ I'll have to watch out for it when it finally decides to come out XD

Poor Luna - don't worry too much though, now she's getting rid of the second clutch you'll be able to get her back up to weight again :) I hope the eggs you are trying to hatch turn out OK.
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 26/07/2013 : 22:50:21
Im sure her health will be fine, try not to over stress yourself :)
SilverWings Posted - 26/07/2013 : 22:47:01
Naw, I never intended to breed them in the first place. The previous owner kept them together for years, they never bred once but as soon as I got them they did. Guess the move triggered it. If the first batch go wrong I'll be sad, but not totally torn up about it. I just hope Luna is okay, she lost so much weight with the first clutch and never really put it back on again :/
mjpeters Posted - 26/07/2013 : 22:43:24
got everything crossed for you!hope they all hatch o.k.
Maybe worth hanging on to the new eggys in case the first batch go a bit wrong?
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 26/07/2013 : 21:36:46
well hope they all remain healthy!
