Posted - 19/06/2013 : 20:33:25 So, I lost 5 eggs so far but it' been nearly a month since they were laid and the rest(apart from one) look OK, I think... Some of them have developed the little "snowflake" effect on them but I'm pretty sure this is OK? They have pink spots on them as well and some do look a little off-white. Anyway, I went to check on them about a week a go and one of them had come loose from the clutch. I managed to remove the infertile ones pretty easily because once they went bad they seemed to detach from the healthy ones on their own... Is this normal? Anyway, I had to reach into the incubator and had to carefully move the eggs to the side to do something with the stat probe and the one that is shrivelled and on it's own came free as I moved them. Luckily because I was only sliding them it didn't turn or fall. I increased the humidity because I know they shrivel when they dehydrate but it's not puffed out again so I'm a little worried. Anyway, here's are pictures. One without flash and one with.

Posted - 20/06/2013 : 21:56:04 See that's this thing, these that went bad practically fell off the rest of the clutch. It was also one side only that's turned slightly.. I started one day with 1 bad and the next I had 3 bad :/ I'm not 100% comfortable leaving bad and mouldy eggs in the incubator but if they don't detach naturally then I can't help it. These had gone furry and mouldy not just yellow and even the healthy eggs keep getting bits of mould growing on them but I use a small bit of tissue to gently wipe it off. |

Posted - 20/06/2013 : 20:19:51 I'd just leave all the eggs in situ and wait to see what you get. I had some that weren't any good with Phoebes first clutch but they still held fast to the others. I let mother nature take it's course. Even a couple that I thought wouldn't make it have hatched out and the wee ones are doing fine. |

The little shrivelled one might not be good, especially as it isn't puffing out again. 94% sounds good to me, I think the aim is to get it as close to 100% as possible but if the eggs feel wet then it is too humid/wet.
I think some of my eggs aren't good too, they all still look okay but two of them don't have any veins when I candled them
That's the thing... The shrivelled one has veins and lots of them... It's confusing :/ |

Mine have the little 'snowflakes' as well, although they're a bit more yellow, feels softer than the rest of the shell. They're all still nice and veiny, so letting them be for now ^_^ My humidity measure seems to be malfunctioning, it shows a humidity of 20% yet the substrate is plenty damp, and the eggs are all plump. Very annoying because I have no idea what it is again :/ But I am reassured to see yours looking like mine lol
Haha, it's nice to know someone else who doesn't have perfectly plump pearly whites! well I measured my humidity and it said 94%, is this enough? This is also why I'm worrying about the little shrivelled one as the humidity is high enough but he hasn't plumped out again |

Ahh, Ok lol. You had me worried for a minute there Yeah, I know that ones looking a bit funny. It separated itself too when I had to move them which is what the 5 others did when they wet bad |

The others look ok to me Most of mine had little snowflakes on them; no worries there
The little round one at the very top of the clutch? Or did you mean the shrivelled one on the right? Lol. I was sure snowflakes were OK but wanted to check. I just wondered because everyone else's eggs always look pearly white and mine aren't as white as them so I got overly worried lol. |
