Posted - 27/04/2012 : 17:03:59 Just thought I would make a post to say that I didn't have to take her to her vets as she started laying last night, two eggs so far, and more to come, I know it's slow but at least it didn't come to the vet option! Will keep updating on how the eggs are doing and am sure will ask some questions along the way!
My first one is, people tell me different answers to this question but how damp should the vermiculite be, and how often should i make it damp? |

Posted - 27/04/2012 : 22:39:59 Yeah the one i have in the incubator now, seems to be quite dry, is there a way of making it moist? maybe a light spray? ive tried putting a damp paper towel over the top but i dont hold much hope.
Egg count for today is 7, 2 are keepers, other 5 are slugs. Just hope she moves before they dry out so i can move them to the incubator.
Hope your eggs turn out alright Isoldael, looks like were in the same situation! |

Posted - 27/04/2012 : 20:54:54 I had the same worry with saphira, but looking back I probably should have taken them out. She knocked some of them over while laying the other eggs, and the knocked over ones are now all dented and look like they'll probably not make it :( |

Posted - 27/04/2012 : 20:34:04 wouldn't worry about them being thin unless they are a dull yellow colour, which would mean they're slugs (infertile eggs).when you get the chance try to get a pic of them |

Posted - 27/04/2012 : 19:57:10 Thanks, by the way she's had 4 eggs since earlier, cant risk taking them out she is too flinchy and may damage them. So lets hope she finishes soon and moves! They look a bit on the thin side, length is normal but a bit then, any reason for this? |

Posted - 27/04/2012 : 19:45:57 The guideline I follow is - if you squeeze the vermiculite together, it should clump together, but no water should drip from it. That's when it's damp enough, but not TOO damp :) |
