Just wondering if there are any alternatives to using moss in the laying box as im unprepared a tad unprepared so advice is welcome! :) |

Anything that will stay damp should be okay for the lay box.
As for the incubator I use vermiculite, but in Kathy and Bill Love's book they suggest perlite either. It looks better for when the eggs are seperate though, and I prefer to keep them in a clump as they should be.
You could use anything that retains water though.
I'd be worried using kitchen towel as it would be hard to keep it consistantly damp.
Just get to a DIY or rep shop, a big bag of vermiculite is only a couple of quid, and the eggs are worth it!! No point cutting corners when it comes to snakey's!
Oh, and as for her roaming around her enclosure despite there being a lay box, mine did that last year and this year. They get very very active when they are about to lay. Like they've had a million cups of coffee or something!
So it's a good sign, just leave her to it. |

Also, vermiculite and moss are avaliable at B+Q, probably cheaper than at a rep shop. |

She wont bother waiting for a lay box, if shes gonna drop, shes gonna drop, not having a lay box isnt gonna change that.
Other things you can use in the pay box are Vermiculite and perlite. Tissue paper is a waste of time, it holds too much moisture, you want as close to 100% humidity as possible, without having it wet, the easiest ways are to soak vermiculite and squeeze it out with your hands, then use that, or use perlite and spray it with a spray bottle until its doubled in weight, maybe a little more.
It wasnt her prelay shed, and if it was, shes in trouble by now. Its more likely that its a normal shed and she will have another quite soon, and that will be her prelay. That said, they dont always have a pre lay shed, so you can expect eggs anytime.
How long ago was she seen to mate with the male?

Fingers crossed. If I were you I would get down to the rep shop and get some moss so you can provide her with an alternative. If she had her prelay shed 3 weeks ago then you have had 3 weeks in which to get her lay box sorted. |

Maybe she's holding on to her eggs until the lay box is provided? I have just made one and put it in there with her, i used a tupperwear box and paper towels, and she is in it now so fingers crossed! |

She hasn't eaten for 4 weeks now, so she's due pretty soon, but she has been searching around her enclosure, so im thinking she's looking for a place to lay? |

kitchen towel can be used moss would be better though,i was unprepared once so i used kitchen towel and the female ignored it and laid the eggs in her hide. |

I think damp kitchen towel would be fine. Some breeders will clarify for sure shortly :) |
