Posted - 10/03/2012 : 14:46:58 Ok sooo ive just bought (today) a very nice 4ft amel female corn off my friend, he wanted to rehome asap, anyway ive got her home and rang him to say shes in, and asked why you got rid of her so fast???? His answer was my nightmare... Cause the other snake wouldnt leave her alone (yes he cohabs) ... So i went straight up to inspect her, and... Yep... Shes gravid... So im now pulling in every favour to source the equipment to make my own incubator. In my friends defence when i rang him to bust his balls, hes given me my money back to spend on pinkies and boxes and stuff and has appologised. |

Posted - 26/03/2012 : 12:14:25 She could just be ovulating/building follicles, my girl tricked me into thinking she was gravid last year but she was actually just massively building follicles! If you want to incubate them then get yourself a broken old fridge off ebay for a couple of quid, whack a heat mat in it on a stat set to 26c and you're pretty much sorted |

Posted - 25/03/2012 : 14:14:19 My female is in her early stages of going into blue... But when i came to inspect her when i moved her to rearrage to put in the moise hide/ place to lay her eggs i didnt feel any distinctive bumps that i would have thought i would feel by this time, shes got that bulge, what could this be??? Im going to try and get a pic but i dont want to handle hand too much

Posted - 10/03/2012 : 16:48:16 Think I would have been inclined to ask why he wanted to get rid of her so fast before i bought her and also asked more questions about how she was being kept. I agree with auld baldy. In this instance I think the time and cost associated with it outweighs the benefits of keeping the eggs. I would save the money he has refunded you and keep it incase she suffers any complications. |

Posted - 10/03/2012 : 15:09:10 You don't have to actually go past the laying stage unless you really want to. Apart from the additional costs, worry and effort of raising any hatchlings there is the question of what to do with them. There is an over abundance of unwanted/ unsaleable Corns at the moment. People can't even give them away to proper homes.
It might be better all round to just destroy the eggs by freezing them. |
