Posted - 05/05/2011 : 13:11:27 recently my corn snake laid 21 eggs all went well,i have noticed a large lump next to her back passage, when i went to check this it feels like there is at least another egg left in her,i have read other posts on here and put her in a warm bath to see if this helps but it hasnt, also her eyes have now started to glaze over which i believe is post-lay shedding which happens when she has finished laying all her eggs which she obiously hasnt.need advice on what to do as i am starting to get worried about her now,and because it is her first lay i am now very experienced in this area at all.would be greatful for any advice.!!! |

Posted - 05/05/2011 : 20:43:12 good news, found a reptile vet in my area,he is actually the vet for the local zoo,he was able to give me advice over the phone which was a great help too.Rosie is now in a seperate tank with moist moss in a dark area, vet said to give her two days to see if she lays the remaining eggs or its a trip straight to the vets for an injection.fingers crossed!!!! |

Posted - 05/05/2011 : 17:59:56 It can be hard trying to find a vets that will treat exotics let alone specialise in them. What I did was do a general search for vets in my area on Yell.com, then went through each listings website to see if they say they treat exotics. The vet profiles are usually quite good to see if any of the vets in the practise have trained in exotic care. If a listing doesnt have a website, phone them. If they can't help they might know of a vets that can. I spent hours on the internet but managed to come up with a shortlist of 4 within an hours drive of me. |

Posted - 05/05/2011 : 15:45:48 It's ridiculous how little (non specialised) vets know about reptiles. Studied veterinary medicine for 2 years and all we heard about reptiles was how to pick em up... |

Posted - 05/05/2011 : 15:30:47 the eggs seems to have moved down a bit more, might try to put her in a warm bath later,or will this stress her out too much? |
