A fibreglass viv?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fibreglass-Vivarium-120cm-long-x-60cm-high-x-60cm-deep-/290431241417
They are 100% water tight, will never rot, easier to clean, possibly look nicer (im thinking of one in black).
What do you think?
Would the extra humidity cause problems for corn snakes?
Thanks

Posted - 26/05/2010 : 12:22:19 http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/ If that doesn't work um reptile fo ru ms there's normally some kind of strange filter that makes any links I put to there link for a darth vader page O.o; but I know a lot of people on there make viv's. The delivery is like £50 but the viv's are so cheap. |

Posted - 26/05/2010 : 10:23:39 If you take a look in the internet or go over to the dark side there are many viv builders that will build anything to the size, colour... well everything you want. Fully sealed and made and cheaper than the flatpacked viv exotics. |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 18:37:00 only problem with them is that they warp over time if you use any kind of heat light or heat element besides a heat mat |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 17:49:57 If you wanted a black viv you could get a custom job, if your only keeping corns in there there's no need for one of those kinds of viv, they seem like they are for reptiles that require high humidity and wood won'trot and mould if you seal it well and clean it.
It's kinda a shame viv exotic don't make them in black anymore. |

I have used them and I think they are rubbish. You couldnt put anything on top of it as it bows, the vents provided are far to small so you will have to drill extra holes, the runners arnt fitted well - if there is no glass they just come out, and they slanted front side is stupid unless your putting it on the floor.... |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 17:12:38 They do those pennine vivs in argos as well (yes really). Mixed reviews on them though, plus the fact they're slanted backwards makes it a bit more awkward if you wanted to stack them or put other stuff on top. I have considered getting one in the past to see what they're like. |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 13:38:10 Thats a good idea really, i thought about that the other night, maybe i could of just sealed around the bottom and then 2 or 3 inches up the sides, this way it would mostly be covered by substrate, plants etc.
I rushed and sealed the whole viv.
I might look into removing the sealant and starting a fresh. Cheers mate.

I only seal the Vivex up to about 3/4 of the way up the wall, and squeeze the sealant in with my finger wiping away any excess (a window fitter showed me this), so there's none really showing, well not much at all.

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 13:26:08 I came across them because i was looking for a Black vivarium to go with our newly decorated house.
They are expensive, but dont mind spendind a bit extra if they are good.
I think the main advantage is that they are fully water tight, my vivexotic is water tight now that ive sealed it all round, but the sealant is unsightly and really noticeable with the light on.
Would be interesting to see any pics if someone has got one? |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 13:25:41 I'm not sure how easy it would be to add holes for wires or screws for attaching snake furniture and climbing branches.
Pretty expensive compared to Vivexotic.
Looks like a converted CRT TV...which was a plan I had a while back .... |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 13:09:22 my rep shop has a few of these in their store..one has a blue beauty snake in and the other at one point had a small monitor in, they look quite good but not personally my kinda thing |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 12:40:11 I'm not so sure I could justify spending that amount of money on a viv although they would be handy being lighter than the wooden ones |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 12:37:41 They are ugly and seem very expensive. What's so special about them anyway? They just seem to do the job of a normal glass tank. |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 10:49:45 I've seen them, I personally think they are hideous!! |

Posted - 20/05/2010 : 10:47:47 They're the same ones my local rep shops uses, they've got good ventilation actually as tthey've got a few rows of holes in the back. I've not seen one in there that's got any damp or condensation in one. |
