You might wanna take a look at this page: http://www.bornfreeusa.org/b4a2_exotic_animals_ords.php
It was given to me by another member the other day when I was researching something.

Italy is right at the bottom of the page.

So you may wanna have a dig around, possibly contact someone from here: http://italy.usembassy.gov/agtrade/files/Pet.asp
They say you can import 'common reptiles', but it depends on their definition of common.

reptiles don't need quarantine ;) Your best bet is to contact DEFRA on this - the last time I looked at exporting PET reps (nothing for resale etc) all you need is a letter signed by yourself that they belong to you and I can't remember if you also need a statement from a vet to say they are in good health (that may have been for importing).
I've just been in touch with an Italian breeder and she tells me there are no requirements as far as she knows for importing to Italy.

One thing that will probably be for sure though is you may not be able to fly them in, or it may be expensive to do so

They will need to be quarantined, and it will cost a fair bit, but yes, it is possible.
