Posted - 28/02/2010 : 09:10:28 Hi all,
I fed my girls all last wednesday and all went fine and waited the 48 hrs as normal. But when I got Mel out last night she still has the bump from feeding ?? is this normal now and again or is there somthing to worry about ?
The temp in the hot end is 29oC she fed with no problems the week before so I'm just not sure whats going on.
For info the others are fine and normal. |

Posted - 01/03/2010 : 15:46:32 Have you gone up a food size or was it a bigger mouse than the rest of the batch?
A photo might help too if it hasn't gone down yet. Hope it has! |

Posted - 01/03/2010 : 04:18:32 Have had the same thing happen once with Silvesta. After 48hrs there was still a slight lump, but got him out and handled him anyway. Am sure that the movement actually helped cos it stretched him out, rather than have him curled up in hide all the time. Lump had disappeared by the time I returned him to viv....made me wonder how much of it was just gas??
Wait a couple of days and see what happens with Mel, if lump remains or gets bigger then it is obviously something to be concerned about.

Posted - 28/02/2010 : 15:26:17 im sure i responded to this thread already...
anyway..
some of mine have taken slightly longer than normal to digest food..especially when the food is slightly bigger than normal.. i had to take libs to the vets the other week because her stomach area had swelled up after feeding.. the bump was gassy and you could feel food there still, the vet said it was nothing to worry about - in typical fashion the bump had gone down before the vets appointment! if its still there in a few days then maybe take a trip to the vets
just for reference this was Liberty when she had her gassy stomach.. the yellowy discolouration was a bit of staining/blood from when she dragged herself through a small gap backwards..

As far as I know, after 48 hours there should be no bump. If there still is (it's been more than 48 hours now, right?), better take it to a vet to check her out. It's not nessesarily a problem, but it's better to prevent anything from happening.
But surely if the snake has spent the whole time in the cold hide and hasnt had the temperature to digest properly there could still be a slight lump. |

Posted - 28/02/2010 : 11:53:52 Has she spent alot of time in the cold hide? All mine go straight to the warm hide after a feed but last week my sisters milk snake still had a bump after 48 hours, i put it down to the fact it had been in the cold hide too much, directed him too the warm hide and left him for another day. |
