my 6 mont old cornsnake managed to escape from his viv while i changed his water bowl and is lost somewhere! anyone have any tips on how to lure him back or find him or anything? |

Any sign of your snake Bunny? Have been away so am coming into this quite late (and am not sure what I have missed by the looks of things!!!)
Most important point that needs reiterating is the need for water...snakes can go for ages without food but dehydrate very quickly, so you must put water bowls down in a few rooms so he has access to something to drink.

seems like i was lucky to find my snake within 10 mins of realising she was gon i found her in my sofa if that helps |

ooh another tip i forgot to mention - put a small bowl of water in the corner of the room so that if he does come out theres water available for him |

Good luck Bunny. Hope he turns up soon. From what I have read on here snakes seem to vanish quite regularly and have been found anywhere from a few hours to a few months later. The only thing I will say is be careful when hoovering and make sure you check your washing carefully before putting it in the wash. I think I would even check coat pockets etc before going out in case he managed to curl up in there. |

i heard on a nother post that you could put tin foil around the edge of the room as they will stay close to the edge for their safety and you should hear him russling the tin foil :) best of luck |

Good luck finding snakey, Ive discovered Dez can open his viv doors and caught him making a bid for freedom, so even when you think they are secure it seems they will find a way to prove you wrong. Hope this isnt classed a bandwagoning but in fernandos defence the tape trap is a recommended method in an edition of PRK(not that I would ever use it) |

...tape of any sort is a big no no with snakes.. especially if its on the floor and they panic..it could potentially cause loads and loads of damage..sometimes so severe that the snake dies, and im sure you dont want that!!
best things to do are;
* put a heatmat with a towel or something on top of it on the floor..that way they have somewhere warm to hide thats dark and cosy..then you just have to gently check it in the morning,
* make bottle traps - http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=1759
*put flour or a sprinkling of talcum powder or tin foil across doorways or along skirting boards so you can see/hear where he has been/is
*search carefully everywhere starting near the viv/faun and then moving away from it, corns will head for somewhere warm so check anywhere giving off any heat - plug sockets ect
*search high and low - corns are good climbers if given the chance to climb so they will often head higher rather than lower..

Search for missing snake or lost snake at the top of the forum mate.
There are loads of threads on this.
Try not to panic, they often turn up un-harmed, sometimes weeks later.

Know it sounds stupid but a spinkling of flour across doorways at night can help track its movements
Sorry thas all i can say to help but other will be on soon that will have better ideas
Editted to add: every keepers nightmare I hope you find him soon
