Hello all. Today I bought a lovely little Snow Corn hatchling. At the minute I have him housed in an Exo Terra Faunarium, with kitchen roll as substrate, a water dish, two hides and a little rock formation for him to climb on. Heat is provide by a Mat Stated heat mat and is monitored with digital thermometers.
However my other 3 snakes are housed in viv's, and I'm wondering if the Faun is suitable? Even with the heat mat the ambient temp is quite low. I wouldn't want to put the little fella's health at risk.
Will he be OK for the time being?
I do plan to put him in a viv when he's a little older, probably towards the end of the year.

The thermometer is taped to the probe, and both are taped to the heat mat outside the viv. I have an analogue thermometer place on the kitchen roll at the hot end and that shows that the temp is as it should be. |

Know I am coming in part way through conversation but you havent said where you have the digital thermometers placed (I dont think, if you have then I apologise for the brain fog moment  )
Are they down at the level of the kitchen roll as that is where he will be getting his heat from, rather than from the ambient temperature?
Sorry if this is a really stupid question  .

As a rule of thumb the length and width of the faun or viv should be around the size of your snakey. Im guessing your snake isn't even 2 foot long yet never mind 3 foot ish long. If you were to move him up to a 2 foot viv is there anyway you could partition a section off for now. If not then maybe it would be best to keep him in the faun for a little longer, maybe you could fut the faun in the viv, or atleast pack the viv out with lots of hides and plants so that your snake can move under cover and dosnt have to be visible. |

when he's the total of the length and depth of the faun added together then it's time to move up generally speaking, but how big is your faun? |

He's grown on quite a bit though. He's a touch longer than the length of the faun. |

I got a very good deal on a 2ft viv on ebay, so he'll be in it by the end of the week. He should be fine until then. |

get some towels and put them around the faun and over the top of the faun leaving a small space for ventilation..it warms it up a bit when its cold  |
