Can anyone tell me how regular to mist the Sphagnum moss to keep it at the correct moisture for Corn snakes as i want to keep some in my tanks to help with shedding.

Thanks Rich.

I would advise against it, damp, moist conditions just aren't good for corns, except for when shedding. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah I have decided to let it dry out and just let them tunnel under it in the hide they seem to like wrapping up in it. I have checked and it has all dried out.

I suppose that's another problem with co-habiting.

Sorry if I have been miss leading Blackecho but all my snakes are kept in their own vivs.

What I wanted to get was a more detailed answer to this:

If I keep moss in the cooler end a spray every couple of days as you have advised would it be possible to keep it in all the time?

Thanks Rich.

Make sure you only keep it in viv for period that snake is blue til it sheds. Corns need dry atmosphere usually, not humid...which can lead to respiratory infections.

(sorry you probably know this but thought it worth mentioning)

Is is not ok to keep in all the time if it is not very wet. I kow that goes against what you have advised its just they seem to like curling up in it even the ones that are not in shed yet?

How long can it last before you should change it?

Dampen it every couple of days if at the cool end. Remember to squeeze any excess water out.
