Posted - 22/12/2009 : 19:19:19 Hello again all you good people.
I'm fairly new to all this and had my snake for about 4 weeks.
About 2 weeks ago his colour started to fade, and his eyes went into what i think is called the "blue" stage. He started to hide away a lot, and wouldnt feed. After some advice from you guys i left him be to shed. However last wednesday (6 days ago) i came in from work to find he had partly shed, his eyes etc and only about a third of his body. The rest has still not come off, and is just starting to look very flaky, coming off in tiny little parts. Its been about 2 and a half weeks now since he took a feed and i'm assuming its down to the fact that he still hasn't fully shed.
Is there any advice you guys could give me to help him along. I've tried putting moisture in the Vivarium, wetting my hands and letting slide through my hands, and still its only coming off in tiny flakes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated by me, and especially Eugene. Thanks in advance.
P.S. Pics will be on as soon as he's fully shed as i know you'll all be dying to see some pics.

Posted - 26/12/2009 : 10:55:56 Thanks for the tips guys. I managed to get him in the bath and i think its all off. He even had his 1st feed for about 2 and a half weeks not long after his bath.
So looks like he's back to normal. Got a few pics on camera now so will get them posted asap.

Posted - 23/12/2009 : 00:10:34 put a damp hide in for a few days to soften the skin first, then try a bath if he;s not sorted it himself.
i'd put a damp hide in either end and completely remove his usual hides so he HAS to use them damp ones. after a couple of days if it's not resolved then a bath, no deeper than the snake's body and at the same temp as the warm end of the viv so sbout 29-30*C (DO check it with a thermometer, it should still feel cool to us as our body temp is 37*C) for 5-15 mins - much longer and the water will cool too much and start to chill the snake. in the bath i encourage them to run through my hands to rub any stuck shed off or alternatively, after a soak either let him run through a towel or put him in a pillowcase to let him work the skin off. |

Posted - 22/12/2009 : 19:26:26 give it a warm bath, make sure the temp is the same as the hot end of the viv, and then let him run through a towel. if you do this a few times it sould all come off in the towel. Make sure all the shed is off at the base of the tail |
