hi the park near me are cutting lots off big trees down been told they are White Poplar can i clean them and put in vivarium with snake???
how can you tell what wood you can put in vivarium what is safe?????

Yes, it should be fine if cleaned and dried.

I am afraid I cant help you as to whether white poplar is ok for your viv, but I havent been able to find anything that says it is dangerous.

To make the wood safe you need to either soak it in 10% bleach or use a reptile disenfectant to scrub it with. Then bake it in the oven at about 160oC for approx an hour - this ensures any parasites that havent been killed are and so are the eggs laid.
