Posted - 17/12/2009 : 21:48:42 hi the park near me are cutting lots off big trees down been told they are White Poplar can i clean them and put in vivarium with snake??? how can you tell what wood you can put in vivarium what is safe????? thanks |

Posted - 18/12/2009 : 03:25:12 I am afraid I cant help you as to whether white poplar is ok for your viv, but I havent been able to find anything that says it is dangerous.
To make the wood safe you need to either soak it in 10% bleach or use a reptile disenfectant to scrub it with. Then bake it in the oven at about 160oC for approx an hour - this ensures any parasites that havent been killed are and so are the eggs laid.
