Posted - 11/12/2009 : 09:07:54 If i get a wooden vivarium, what is the best method of fitting the heatmat inside?
I know that they have to be fixed down somehow so that they cant bury underneath the mat.
Could you use silicone sealant or not?
Also do you have to put anything on top of the heat mat? would it harm the snake if it lay directly on the heat mat?
Thanks

Posted - 11/12/2009 : 09:35:37 Just make sure the aspen isn't to thick above the heat mat, and to have the probe where the snake goes.
So if the snake burys under the aspen, then have the probe on the mat. If the snake doesn't go under, then have the probe on top of the aspen. |

Thats what i thought, I know she would bury under the substrate and lie on top of the mat, under the aspen.
Cheers

Posted - 11/12/2009 : 09:33:23 I have one of mine held down with hot melt glue and lino. The other is just in the viv. It has hides and a brick in there on top of it, so they can't get under it.
Mine regularly lay on top of the heat mat, provided it's still controlled by the thermostat they can't get burnt by it. |
