Posted - 29/11/2009 : 12:36:23 I have just started feeding my corn double pinkies. I had got 5 in the freezer and they vary in size SO much! The big pinkies are almost double the size of the small ones.
I was thinking about getting 20 pinkies, bagging them into 2s, in order of size. So the 2 smallest in bag 1, the 2 largest in bag 10 and so on.
And then feed in order for next 10 weeks, so in 10 weeks she will be on 2 x Large pinkies, then maybe ready for a fuzzy.
Does that sound about right? Or am i best just asking for small pinkies and keep on 2 of them?
Thanks

Posted - 02/12/2009 : 08:49:15 Thanks very much,
Im going to get the pinkies at the weekend, so in 10 weeks (ish) she will be on 2 x Large pinkies and should be ready for a fuzzy in theory.
Like i said above, she took 2 x small pinkies last week with no trouble at all, shes got a great appetite i think! Lol.
Thanks to all

Posted - 30/11/2009 : 18:41:26 hoppers/crawlers are equivalent to small mice - the size up from fuzzys once they've got a bit of proper fur and open eyes |

Posted - 29/11/2009 : 17:34:39 Looking at the list provided by hawk eye, i think fluffs are the smaller hoppers and a crawler is just a nother name for a hopper. But again as Hawkeye said if you see a bump in your snakes tummy then the food should be big enough. |

Posted - 29/11/2009 : 16:57:08 Thanks,
Are fluffs and hoppers the same thing?
What is a crawler? Is that the same again?

Guidelines:
1 Pinkie (2-3g) every 5-6 days (Snake = 4-15g) 2 Pinkies (3-4g) every 5-6 days (Snake = 16-23g) Small Fuzzy (5-7g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 24-30g) Fuzzy (7-9g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 30-50g) Fluff/Hoppers (9-12g) every 6-7 days (Snake = 51-90g) Small Adult/Weaned (14-20g) every 7 days (Snake = 91-170g) Adult (20-30g) every 7-10 days (Snake = 170+)
I started mine on 2 pinkies prior to the stated weight and same for going from there to fuzzies, seeing there was not much of a bump and based also on snake behaviour. My advice is to take the above into consideration but also go with what you know is right for your snake.

Posted - 29/11/2009 : 14:26:39 Is a hopper smaller than a fuzzy?
Has anyone got a list of the order they go up in?

Posted - 29/11/2009 : 14:21:27 Well i think that if she is on 2 large pinkys, you may be better off just feeding her 2 small hoppers due to the fact that the Pinky mice have a higher fat content and the hoppers have more benificial nutriants. :) Hope it works out! x |

Only problem will occur if in the 10 weeks or so she is on 2 x Large Pinkies, and not ready for fuzzies. I suppose i would have to request larger pinkies from pet shop. |

Posted - 29/11/2009 : 13:05:31 That sounds like a pretty good plan, i diddnt really take note of the sizes of pinkys and now ive got some small ones and like a few big ones and its really annoying becasue i may have to chuck some of the small ones. Hopefully not though, Good plan. |
