Hi,

I've got my hatchling in a plastic click lid tub at the moment with a heat pad underneath. When I move her to her viv can I use the heat pad and where should I put this so she doesn't overheat? I don't think the heat will get through a wooden viv floor very well if its put underneath but I'm concerned about putting it inside for safety reasons.

I did use things in the past to anchor down my mats, but don't anymore in my wooden viv.
I just have other things on top of the mat, and they do the job.

If my snow wnat to get under the mat, he WILL regardless of how I hold it down, so I've given up. They have hides on top of it, so can sit inside the warm hides, and the hides themselves will hold the mat down.

I personally think that so long as it's controlled by a stat so it wont overheat and they have a hide on top of the mat, then if they get under it, then they do.

Mine have a habit of pooing on the mat, and cooked poo isn't easy to get off a stuck down mat. :)

like said before heatmat will be fine inside a wooden viv just make sure you have a stat regardless

i tape my mats down with low-tack masking tape and cover with a sheet of newspaper...........but a lino tile is a very good idea. heatmats are fine inside wooden vivs and should be run through a stat regardless of the viv/tub's construction ie. do you have one now?

They are put inside of wooden vivs, there are no real safety concerns as long as the mat is connected to a thermostat.
