right i now have a heat mat but no thermo stat, its only a 7 watt heat mat is a stat really needed? |

Well said Phil. They just want to make a sale of a snake and set up, and if your told £25 will be added to the bill it put more people of than they would make in revenue from selling the stats as they should. |

A vast amount of shops don't tell you that unfortunately, because the thought of another 30 quid bit of equipment could possibly put you off buying it.
Therefore they could lose a sale.
Also, no offense but unless your dad is an experienced reptile keeper, then I wouldn't take his word for it either. 
My dad also thought the same, but he lived in India for a vast amount of his life, so heat wasn't needed for pet reps either. |

thanks ill get a stat asap but its annoying when my dad and the pet shop keep telling me i don't need one which just slows things down |

Sorry if you feel pressured its just that its a big cause of injury to snakes and we just want to help you to help your snakey! You're doing a brilliant job so far Luke. Get the stat and you'll be set for a solid future with your little fella! Oh and the £17 for the stat is all you'll have to pay cuz it can be used on any mat upto 100w so should see you through to the end. |

Yes! definately. without the stat, it could overheat to over 150*.
Not worth the risk, you could come home to a pile of charred rubble of what was your house mate. ;)
Only £20, a habistat 100w stat will suffice perfectly. :D |
