Yeah, I have my heat-mat which is emitting 28-30 degrees, but I'd like to light the viv up with a bulb that doesn't give off hardly any heat. I just wanted to know what W you think I should use. I'll probably put the heat down to 25-27 degrees in the hot end and angle the bulb in the hot ends direction. Any suggestions??? Thanks.

For normal light, LED's will be good, if you really want them, i mean they do look great but i wouldn't get them PERSONALLY Not saying you shouldn't ;) Just remember to turn them off at night time LOL, so as not to annoy snakey. :)

as in the above post, LED lights would be your best bet

Have you thought about using an LED strip light. They can be dimmed so as you can get the right level of light, they last for ages and they dont give off any noticable heat. They are also available in moonlight.

Have a look at these:

I was actually looking at either a 10w or 13w day glo bulb from exo terra, not a heat giving bulb :) I'll take a look at a box when I'm next at the reptile shop, thanks.

I wouldnt use a heat bulb myself. Combined with a mat, they both can account to 50*+, 25+25= 50, snake would most likely cook.

Its either hat, or mat. Is your bulb red? Both must be on stats. You can find out the wattage on the bulb, not sure where to look though :) Surely it would be on the box the bulb came in?
