hi i have a very nice bit of drift wood that was in my fish tank i would really like to put it in bilbos viv. what would be the best way to make it safe?? i have let it dry out for about a week now will it be ok if i put it in the oven for a a bit or would it not be safe to use at all????

a 10% bleach solution or oven bake will do,if it can fit in the oven i would rather bake it. |

Same here, i soak it in bleach then give it a good rinse, my wood is too big to fit in the oven |

Any wood I use I first put it in a bath overnight with a weak solution of milton , then I give it a real good scrub and rinse , then leave to thoroughly dry out , never found a bit of wood yet small enough to go in the oven :P
Milton is a sterilizing disinfectant for babies etc , that's why I use that instead of everyday bleach . |

With drift-wood, I'd boil it for a bit first as well. A fair bit of driftwood has oils in it that can cause brown staining if it gets wet, boiling will boil out the brownness.
If that makes sense.  |

I don't know about the bleached water, but I'd defiantly soak it in some reptile disinfectant, then put it in the oven. |

soak it in some bleached water overnight, let it dry for a couple of days, then blast it in the oven. thats how i`d do it |
