Well after Missy had a fussy feed the other day, while waiting for her to take the fuzzy I put up on my facebook (Missy dont want her fuzzy :( ) well once she took it I updated my status.
My sister only saw the first one and when she was at work she was talking to someone who has had snakes for about 10 years. (she thought she was helping by getting me info) She told him the snake was about 6 months old and on fuzzys. Missy is nearly 4 months and has only just started fuzzys as its wat the breeder gave her. (said she was a big girl and could push the 5 ft mark easy!)
The bloke told my sister she could be going into shed, Well yes she is, but that never stoped her before! and then he said is she in her cooling period? I asked my sister what he ment, and she said thet this bloke reckons you need to lower the temps of the viv for 3 months at the end of summer to simulate the natrual living conditions. I can understand having to maybe do something like this if the snake was wild caught, but I thought you only done this if you intend to breed? I have never heard of a "cooling period" has anyone else?? |

cooling is usually done over winter to mimic the natural cycle, it's helpful for breeders but not essential at all, expecially if you have young corns that you don't really want fasting for 2 months |

thanks. I didnt think I had to, never did with my old snake, and have not done with this one! Just shows how many people keep snakes in diffrent ways! |

Again, its something you can do to mimic the environment, but its not necessary. |

i think you can if you want to but i personally dont see the point.. the cool end will naturally drop a few degrees in temp anyway..  |

oh he also said you should lower the temps at night to? I never have never heard of that either, at least not for a corn snake? |
