Hi Alex. Pet shops, even reptile shops vary wildly in how good the advice is that they offer so I would definitely echo the get-as-much-info-as-you-can advice before you go. That way you can tell if what you are being told really stacks up against the advice coming from other quarters. I've really gotten to know and trust my local rep shop but having said that, I got my baby from a local breeder I found on Pre-loved!

It's good to have options about where you get your snake from - that way you can really take your time choosing, ensure the people selling know what they are talking about and that all of the animals (not only the snakes) look well cared for. In both cases a good seller should be able to give you a history of feeds and sheds etc and I would expect them to ask you questions to ensure you have the correct setup and are confident about how to care for your new snake.

I would also run a mile from anyone who has an animal with a problem (kink, bad shedding or feeding record) who is still willing to sell the animal to you as a beginner.

Also, Twilight is in my bedroom which means I get to see all his activity whilst I watch the TV (although he did poo on my husband's side of the bed so watch out for that ha ha ha.

Hope that helps and good luck in your search - Sam
