hello people, i got a 4 week old cornsnake had him for 2 weeks and hes been shedding for nearly 2 weeks his skin has come off in some places around his head and eyes but his boby still has the old skin on, any idea's and is this normal thanx for any replies |

someone suggested putting vaseline i think on the tail when I had this problem with Edison..
if you just give him a bath and then rub it gently with a towel it should come off |

Try the bath and towel again or moss box. Not sure there is much more I would do other than that. I know I have heard of people bathing the sanke and peeling the shed off themselfs but personnaly i would not attempt it myself. I would be to scared of hurting Missy |

After you bath him hold him and let him crawl through a damp towel, this should take the rest of the skin off. |

cool but how often after the first bath should i bath him again if he still not compltely shed? |

I would go for the bath. Sully was a problem shedder at first and the only thing that worked was a bath. |

thanks people of corn, gave winston a little bath seems to of helped, should i think of giving him another bath at a later date if the old skin still hasentcome off? |

no, sometimes bad sheds are one-offs or down to a fixable problem such as their immediate environment
personally i'd go for the damp-hide option first, it's less stressful for the snake. alternatively bath him in water about as deep as his own body, for a hatchie no longer than 5-10 mins and the temperature should be about 27-29*C but DO check this with a thermometer! |

try a moss box or a bath for him! If you dont have moss, put som damp kitchen paper in a small tub with a lid, cut an entrance hole and put that in his viv.
A bath should be just deep enough the snake can keep his head above water and should be around 27-28c the let him slither around in a towel. Hopefully this should help! |

It should have come off in one piece. If it has been two weeks and not all of it is off I would suspect a problem. |
